Health Minister announces maximum hourly rate for healthcare workers

At a press conference on healthcare reform plans, the Health Minister announced her intention to introduce maximum individual pay levels and maximum expenditure limits within the budgets of hospitals funded by the National Health Fund. The initiative is part of efforts to tackle so-called excessive pay levels in the healthcare sector.

As a starting point, the Minister proposed a rate of up to PLN 240 gross per hour, regardless of the form of employment. For a full-time position, this would translate to a maximum of approximately PLN 40,000 gross per month. This limit is intended to apply to the earnings of individual healthcare workers and would also cover cases where a hospital engages an external contractor to provide medical services.

At the announcement stage, no date was given for the proposed changes to come into force, nor was the legislative process through which the new regulations are to pass outlined.
